Four more Ubisoft games are heading to Steam. Far Cry 6, Riders Republic, Rainbow Six Extraction and Monopoly Madness were all previously available via the Epic Games Store and Ubisoft's own storefront, but will be released on Steam across May and June.
]]>I've said before that I reckon Rainbow Six Extraction is far more than a Rainbow Six Siege spin-off. That's thanks to its emphasis on teamwork and co-ordination. Stealth and patience are crucial to victory in a world where aliens aren't just shambling meat sacks, but a horrifying hivemind that's best tackled quietly.
But after spending a little hands-on time with Extraction's new game mode Spillover, it seems it does away with what makes the base game tick. You plant bombs, then fend off hordes of aliens. There's something missing here.
]]>Looking for the best guns in Rainbow Six Extraction? If you want to beat back the Archaean hordes and survive on harder difficulties, you'll need to know the weapons in Rainbow Six Extraction. Since the members of REACT mostly have unique weapons (carried over from Rainbow Six Siege), knowing the right gun to use will help you recognise the characters that need to be on your team.
Below, we'll cover the best guns in Rainbow Six Extraction so that you know which guns are accurate, powerful, and able to kill the Archaeans before you even take a scratch. We'll also cover how you can unlock more guns in Extraction, so that you have more options for each character.
]]>What are the different enemies in Rainbow Six Extraction, and where are their weak spots? Rainbow Six Extraction throws its players into a dark and dangerous world ravaged by an alien invasion. The aliens in question are known as Archaeans, and they come in various different shapes and sizes - some far deadlier than others.
If you want to maximise your chances of survival, and minimise the risk to your squad, then you'll need to do your homework. Below we'll walk you through every enemy type in Rainbow Six Extraction, their abilities, traits, weak spots, and more.
]]>How do you get REACT Credits in Rainbow Six Extraction? REACT Credits are the premium currency used in Rainbow Six Extraction, which can be exchanged in the in-game store to redeem cosmetic items and consumables. They can either be bought with real money or earned by participating in Maelstrom Protocol.
]]>Which are the best Operators in Rainbow Six Extraction? The latest entry in Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six FPS series is a PvE affair, with familiar faces from Rainbow Six Siege returning and banding together to fight off an invasion by the alien Archaeans. Each Operator comes equipped with their own unique tactical ability and weapons arsenal, and as you play more with each Operator, they'll reward you with substantial upgrades to their kit.
On the whole the 18 Operators in Rainbow Six Extraction are fairly balanced, but there are always a few that rise to the top of the tier list. Below we'll walk you through our picks for the very best Operators in the game, alongside a rundown of all 18 characters and their abilities.
]]>How do you gain XP and level up fast in Rainbow Six Extraction? Like many recent FPS games, Rainbow Six Extraction treats you to a couple of interconnected levelling systems. Mercifully, this isn't a needlessly-complicated push to get you to purchase some sort of additional Battle Pass, but a system that mainly works in your favour, allowing you to unlock new content as you play the game while focusing on the characters and gear you're particularly keen on. Still, if you want to make the most of your time with the game, you'll want to understand how levelling up works and how to do it most efficiently.
]]>When will the buddy pass system arrive in Rainbow Six Extraction? Rainbow Six Extraction will include a buddy pass feature, which allows you to invite up to two friends to try out the game for free. It takes three players to make a squad in Rainbow Six Extraction, so if you have a couple of friends in mind who are on the fence about buying the game, this is a perfect opportunity to woo them over to your new FPS obsession.
]]>How do you unlock more Operators in Rainbow Six Extraction? Rainbow Six Extraction launches with 18 playable Operators, although when you first begin the game, you'll only be able to choose from a starting pool of nine. Expanding your team roster is a simple case of levelling up and reaching new Milestones, so read on to learn exactly what levels you need to hit in order to gain access to your Operator(s) of choice.
]]>Does Rainbow Six Extraction have crossplay? Crossplay feels essential in any multiplayer game that launches in 2022. It feels especially important for Rainbow Six Extraction, a cooperative FPS that lets you assemble a team of operators to save Earth from extraterrestrial invaders. As the difficulty amps up and those pesky Archaeans get even nastier, you won't just want any random so-and-so on your team. You'll want your best pals to delve into Extraction and watch your back.
Fortunately, Rainbow Six Extraction has full crossplay across every platform, allowing you to squad up with any of your friends, regardless of their preferred hardware. Below, we'll cover everything you need to know about Rainbow Six Extraction crossplay, including how to invite friends on other platforms to your lobby and how to disable crossplay if you're so inclined. We'll also break down how cross-progression works, so that you can swap platforms with ease.
]]>Can you play singleplayer in Rainbox Six Extraction? Rainbow Six Extraction is a cooperative FPS that intends to throw you and two teammates into various Archaean hives that have appeared across the USA, as you shoot and smack your way across multiple objectives. However, if you aren't a fan of multiplayer or can't play online, you might be wondering whether you can play Rainbow Six Extraction in singleplayer. Below, we'll cover everything you need to know about playing solo in Rainbow Six Extraction, so that you know whether it's worth purchasing for a singleplayer session of shooting.
]]>Want to know how to save an MIA Operator in Rainbow Six Extraction? Your characters in Rainbow Six Extraction don't die when they lose all their health: instead, they're given a lifeline thanks to a certain REACT protocol, which coats them in a foam to protect them for just long enough to mount a rescue mission.
Rescuing an MIA Operator can be a bit confusing, as there are multiple elements that you'll need to understand first. Below we'll explain what happens when you go MIA, and how to rescue an MIA Operator in Rainbow Six Extraction, including information about the Archaean Tree, anchor points, cells, and more.
]]>Can you pause in Rainbow Six Extraction? Surely there's a way! It's not a PvP game, after all. Why would there not be a pause button? Well, if you're one of the many new players who are wondering how to pause a mission in Rainbow Six Extraction, then... I may have some bad news for you. Read on to find out what to do in case you need to go AFK for a short while during a mission in Rainbow Six Extraction.
]]>Looking for some Rainbow Six Extraction tips and tricks? If you've played previous Rainbow Six games, it'll come as no surprise that Rainbow Six Extraction can be difficult. If you want to beat back the Archaean swarms and survive this extraterrestrial invasion, you'll need to come prepared. In this Rainbow Six Extraction beginner's guide, we'll cover 10 tips and tricks that you need to know if you want to survive in Rainbow Six Extraction.
]]>It turns out Rainbow Six Extraction is more cerebral and stealthy than the co-op shooters I’m used to; the other day I accompanied Hayden and Ed on a few missions for the latter’s review, and spent most of them either accidentally summoning hordes of parasite monsters or being hauled to medevac while encased in protective foam. Between my cocoon-muffled cries for help, however, I did manage to get a good look into how Extraction runs on PC, as well as the best settings to tweak if you want better performance.
]]>Rainbow Six Extraction is a spin-off from Rainbow Six Siege's popular Outbreak mode, which saw Tom Clancy's operators fending off aliens instead of each other. Well, Extraction is a tactical FPS that builds on what made Outbreak great by repurposing Siege's PvP prowess into a moreish Left 4 Dead-like. Unpicking an alien hivemind with your mates is a real thrill, as is simply coming back from a mission alive. While it doesn't do anything to blow you away, it does more than enough to keep you coming back for a quick alien-busting session here and there.
]]>Video game marketers are eternally trying to one up each other with stupid terms. From the industry which bought you "levelution", the "drivatar", and "gameplay trailers" which aren't gameplay comes a new one: "gameplay lore trailer". The year has barely begun but Ubisoft are gunning it out the gate with the new Rainbow Six Siege trailer. This new gameplay lore trailer—yeesh!—explains why a game set within Tom Clancy's serious world of paranoid jingoistic masturbation is overrun with a weird parasite mutating people into monsters.
]]>I was a little worried about Left 4 Dead-alike Rainbow Six: Extraction. You know, after it was announced as Rainbow Six: Quarantine, changed its name, dipped under the radar for ages, then re-emerged with news it was being delayed. Signs pointed to a shaky spin-off from Rainbow Six: Siege's popular Outbreak mode. But no, I was totally wrong! After an early hands on with the game, I’m now at ease, at least when I’m at a safe distance. You see, the zombies here may be fewer in number, but they don’t mess about. This makes for a tactical spin on zombie-slaying that truly rewards teamwork, and it’s wonderful as a result.
]]>Ubisoft today announced a surprising upcoming addition to Game Pass: Rainbow Six Extraction will be available on Microsoft's subscription service right from the start when it launches later this month. The monster-mashing spin-off from R6 Siege isn't one of their full-price games, coming at a slightly cheaper £34, but still, damn, that's a good get. And exactly the sort of game I likely wouldn't buy new but would try on Game Pass.
]]>Ubisoft have announced that Rainbow Six Extraction will come out on January 22nd, and will launch with a Buddy Pass system that lets your pals briefly play for free. The PvE spin-off from tactical shooter Rainbow Six Siege will have players diving into missions in teams of three to fight aliens. If just one of you owns the game, you can invite two squaddies to play with you without having to buy it for two weeks.
]]>I loved the wall-busting, door-blocking, remote-camera-ing gadgets that Rainbow Six Siege gave players, but the community quickly outpaced my ability to compete with them. That's why I'm looking forward to Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Extraction. It broadly gives you the same toys, but you're using them against AI-controlled alien mutants. I'm traditionally alright at competing with those.
There was a new trailer showing the gadgets and operators in action during last night's PlayStation event, and you'll find it below.
]]>Rainbow Six Extraction may have recently extracted itself from this year's release schedule, but you won't have to dig too far to get some new details. Ubisoft's co-op zombie Clancy-verse spinoff has shown off more about its borrowed operators, its big new maps, and some details on rescuing your fallen friends. If you really want to go no pal left behind you may find yourself putting in some risky extra legwork. They've shown all that off down here in a new explainer video.
]]>The best place to advertise an upcoming game is inside one of your current games, it seems. That’s what Ubisoft are doing with the latest Rainbow Six: Siege event, called “Containment”. The event is inspired by the upcoming Rainbow Six: Extraction, and gleefully messes with Siege’s set-up. It’s a PVP challenge where a team of Rainbow Six operators are pitted against a group of infected alien doppelgangers protecting their nests.
]]>In a world where two games share one fate, Riders Republic and Rainbow Six Extraction are both pushing back their September launch dates. Ubisoft have announced they're delaying both "to give more opportunities for players to test, play firsthand and give feedback to ensure we are bringing the best experiences to market." Riders Republic is getting just a short two month detour while Extraction has gotten booted all the way into January.
]]>Now that we're over the E3 hump, Imogen and I thought we'd catch a break on this week's episode of the Ultimate Audio Bang. But no, the online shooters simply do not stop reloading. PUBG dropped a new map on its test servers, Warzone fixed its murder door, and Valorant's new agent sounds very overpowered.
]]>During E3, we saw a bunch of new gameplay for Ubisoft's upcoming stealthy alien shoot 'em up, Rainbow Six Extraction (formerly known as Quarantine). It's a spin-off from the tactical shooter Rainbow Six Siege, and I think it looks good - PvE offshoots of PvP games are my jam. But while the new footage showed how a typical mission would go in Extraction, it left me with a lot more questions. So, I reached out to Ubisoft to ask game director Patrick Méthé for a little more detail on how things will work.
To be honest, my main goal was to find out if Caveria would be able to tackle aliens to the ground and interrogate them, but it sounds like they probably won't be doing that (which is a missed opportunity, if you ask me - one of her abilities in Siege is that she can question downed enemies to reveal player locations).
]]>After spending some time under wraps, Rainbow Six Extraction recently emerged with the expected announcement that it would be ditching its former name "Quarantine". What it isn't letting go of, Ubisoft say, are all of the oh so many operators in Rainbow Six Siege. With so many to choose from, Ubisoft aren't designing new operators for their Left 4 Dead-like co-op shooter. Instead, they're going to be bringing some player favorite operators to Extraction, along with some who "haven’t received the amount of love we think they deserve".
]]>On this episode of Ultimate Audio Bang, Imogen and I comb through the shrapnel left by the E3 explosion. There is lots! A charred Randy Pitchford, lots of games like Left 4 Dead, and shooters like Stalker 2, which we have no history with, but it sure look nice.
]]>There was a moment over the E3 weekend where Alice0 pointed out that a lot of people are remaking Left 4 Dead - apart from Valve. I have mentioned this before, but playing L4D2 accounted for about 60% of my time at university. I have a tattoo of the safe house symbol on my ribs (it is terrible).
The Left 4 Dead formula is simple on paper - small team of co-op players vs monster horde, getting from point A to point B with potential incidental side objectives on the way - but is tough to nail. You need to get the mix right. And this year's E3 has revealed a lot of people are rolling up their sleeves to have a go. Let's have a look.
]]>Ubisoft today announced a release date of September 16th Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Extraction, the cooperative monster-mashing FPS formerly known as Rainbow Six Quarantine. It will pit familiar R6 Siege operators against a parasitic alien goop that's taking over cities - and people. Check out the first gameplay trailer below.
]]>Hello and welcome to another PrE3 post where I get to tell you the name of something that will be shown off during this next week of trailers and announcements and all. We were already planning to hear about about the next Clancy 'em up during the Ubisoft Forward event, and now we've been given its title. Mr. Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Extraction is the new name for the game formerly known as R6 Quarantine. Ubi say that they'll be doing a big full reveal for the next R6 game this weekend.
]]>E3 isn't really E3 anymore, not now there's no physical event and it mostly consists of livestreams orchestrated independently by various publishers. And yet, for convenience's sake, let's keep using the name to refer to the loose collection of announcements bound to happen from June 12th to 15th.
Ubisoft announced today that their own part of the show, Ubisoft Forward, would take place June 12th at 8pm BST/3pm EST/12pm PST, with more details on Rainbow Six Quarantine, Far Cry 6 and Riders Republic.
]]>Despite having just launched one blockbuster with another due next month, we might have a while to go before Ubisoft's next round of games. During today's financial earnings report, Ubisoft revealed that both Far Cry 6 and Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Quarantine have been pushed back into the next financial year, setting their release dates as no sooner than April 1st, 2021.
]]>Ubisoft have announced delays for hack 'em up Watch Dogs Legion, zombie spin-off Rainbow Six Quarantine, and the Zelda-lookin' Gods & Monsters, pushing their vague release windows deeper into 2020. They're now all due in Q2 or Q3 of Ubisoft's 2021 fiscal year, which in humanspeak means from July to December 2020.The blast of business news also included word that launch sales of Ghost Recon Breakpoint were "very disappointing" for Ubisoft. Alright everybody, tidy up those ties (full Windsor, please, we're not Wall Street animals) and open your Funfax to fiscal 2021.
]]>Rainbow Six: Quarantine is Ubisoft's latest game in the Rainbow Six series - a three-player cooperative romp using Rainbow Six Siege's engine. Ubisoft have recently opened the gates for those wishing to try the game before release in the beta, which will see you fighting against some kind of alien/mutant virus, staving off infection, and getting out alive. We'll be going over everything we know about Rainbow Six: Quarantine, from the release date to the trailer.
]]>Mutant alien beasties will return to trouble the Rainbow 6 gang in new three-player cooperative FPS Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Quarantine, Ubisoft announced today. The two tangled in R6 Siege's Outbreak event mode in 2018 and now "a totally new breed of mutated alien parasite" is back for a full-on rumble. Ubisoft are pretty vague about this for now, sitting firmly in the "teaser" stage of their marketing plan. That said, the obvious assumption about Quarantine is that it's an an expansion of ideas in Outbreak and Ubisoft don't do anything to head off such assumptions. But here, enjoy a vague trailer.
]]>Trying to keep up with E3 2019 is a fool's errand, and the foaming river of content streaming down the internet's face doesn't always make it easier. So here's a round-up of every news story from the show we think matters to you, with links to our full stories (and bantful liveblogs) where relevant. We'll be updating this hourly, so keep coming back.
