Marcus Lehto, former creative director at Bungie and the artist responsible for Master Chief, has joined EA to found a new studio that will make first-person games. Lehto's last company was V1 Interactive, who released the short-lived Disintegration last year.
]]>FPS and RTS hybrid Disintegration had a short lifespan. It launched last summer and never gained the traction it needed. V1 Interactive took the multiplayer servers offline in November, leaving just the singleplayer campaign available. The studio itself, founded by Halo co-creator Marcus Lehto, is now shutting down too.
]]>It's just five months after the launch Disintegration and already its developers are saying goodbye to its online multiplayer. The hoverbike FPS meets RTS hybrid failed to find an audience that would make it worth keeping the multiplayer alive, its developers say. The singleplayer mode remains playable.
]]>Disintegration has a good line in names. Across its campaign missions, you play Gravcycle pilot and - yes - television presenter called Romer Shoal in a rebellion against "integrated" human-robot hybrids led by Black Shuck. If those names aren't fun enough to roll around in your mouth, consider that the TV show Romer presented was called "Cradle 2 The Grav".
If only there was as much personality to be found in every other aspect of this hybrid of first-person shooting and light strategy.
]]>The futuredream of metal legs and a hoverbike come together today with the launch Disintegration. Combining first-person shooter with mild RTS squad control, it's about a plucky bunch of robotised freedom fighters trying to save the world and that. While I'm always up for futurebikers, our VidBuds recently had a play and didn't really get on with it.
]]>Wear a crash helmet? Buddy, my entire head is a crash helmet. Disintegration, the flying motorcycle shooter debut from developers V1 Interactive, delivered a new trailer today - showing off more of its "evil robots fight sassy robots" story antics and pinning down a release date for next month.
]]>Disintegration, the upcoming game from V1 Interactive about flying around and shooting people on a tricked out hoverbike called a "gravcycle", goes into open beta today. Lead by Marcus Lehto of Halo fame, the developers are inviting as many players as they can to come and test their game. With two modes and seven gravcycle crews on offer, it's a chance to get your hands on it for a short time before it releases later in the year.
]]>Disintegration is V1 Interactive's upcoming sci-fi FPS meets RTS about putting human brains into robot bodies, and riding hoverbikes into battle to stop a civil war. I recently got a chance to find out a bit more about it all from game director Marcus Lehto (who you might recognise as one of the original creators of Halo).
He revealed some details about the multiplayer, what to expect from next week's beta, and let us know a bit of the background on developing Disintegration's new style of combat.
]]>Fancy yourself the best biker/commander/gunship pilot in town? Sci-fi shooter Disintegration might not be swooping in for a good while yet, but you'll have your chance to prove your chops sooner than you'd think. For four days this month, V1 Interactive's FPS-turned-tactics dogfighter will be playable, thanks to two multiplayer beta sessions kicking off on January 28th.
]]>Let’s all take a look at Disintegration, shall we? It's a sci-fi FPS where you're a “Gravcycle” pilot: a drone of death floating above the battlefield, tossing down bombs and commands like a seagull on a power trip. The trailer is bobbing along below.
