Blocky action RPG Minecraft Dungeons sees the arrival of the mob-packed Fauna Faire, its third seasonal update, on October 19th. Today’s Minecraft Live stream showed more of what to expect from the new season of Minecraft Dungeons, including four-player multiplayer for the Tower, a new merchant who handles enchantments, and a free new jungle biome level. I just like the look of the mob-themed onesies, personally.
]]>Late last year, block-and-slasher Minecraft Dungeons introduced seasonal events in which solo players could fight through escalating floors of a big, shifting tower. Now the second seasonal event is live, Luminous Night, which lets you fight through that same tower at night with new biomes, enemies and rewards.
]]>Minecraft Dungeons has finished telling its story through a number of DLCs that have released over the last year, but Mojang isn't done with the blocky Diablo-like just yet. They're introducing seasonal updates that they're calling Seasonal Adventures, adding progression systems, challenges and more - similar to the new Sea Of Thieves' Seasons. Season 1 will be called The Cloudy Climb, and it's coming this December.
]]>Minecraft Dungeons's latest DLC is out now, promising "the conclusion of the Minecraft Dungeons story." Conclusions sound to me like the sort of thing you ought to include in the base game - but the DLC does also add the Minecraft biome known as "The End", Endermen mobs, and new items. There's a trailer below.
]]>After touring through jungles, oceans, mountains, winter itself, and the Nether, Minecraft Dungeons is at last heading to The End. The next DLC for Mojang's Diablo-like Minecraft spinoff is taking players to the final dimension this month alongside another free update. They've also revealed an Ultimate Edition of the game which will be available the same day, bundling the game with all six of its DLCs.
]]>Minecraft Dungeons is digging deeper once again. The Diablo-y spinoff for Mojang's craft 'em up has just launched another DLC and free update. All players will now be able to take on the endgame Ancient Hunts while the Flames Of The Nether DLC will take you deeper into hell to face some bigger baddies.
]]>Hack 'n' slash 'n' mine 'n' crafter Minecraft: Dungeons is all kitted out for a winter of mountain climbing. The blocky dungeon-diver's next DLC, Howling Peaks, begins its expedition in just over two weeks - and with new baddies and bosses, it's not just vertigo you'll be watching out for. But Mojang have also stuffed a brand new season-pass into their backpack, for the square-headed adventurer who's already looking beyond the ridgeline for DLC quests yet to come.
]]>Mojang's hack & slasher Minecraft Dungeons is blowing up barriers between platforms next week. Mojang mentioned during their Minecraft Live presentation last month that they were planning an update expanding co-op across console borders and now we've got a date in hand. You'll be able to dungeon dive with your pals on other systems starting on November 17th.
]]>Minecraft Dungeons didn't get left out of Mojang's Minecraft Live presentation this past weekend. The Diablo-style looting RPG has a few updates of its own landing before the end of this year. It'll be getting another DLC with new enemies and areas and, praise be, multiplayer between folks on different systems.
]]>For many of us, Winter couldn't seem further away right now. Nevertheless, it's coming unseasonably, soon should Minecraft: Dungeons be believed. Mere weeks after lurching out of the jungle, the Minecraft hack-n-slash is bracing for its Creeping Winter DLC, and it's bringing more than just a touch of frostbite when the cold rolls in on September 8th.
]]>Getting the best builds in Minecraft Dungeons requires finding the best armor. There are a lot of base armor types and each one has a unique variant that grant an exclusive buff.
The most desirable unique armor types can allow your hero to take more hits from foes, or can reduce cool down for your artifacts. To help identify which ones are the best for your build, our Minecraft Dungeons armor guide lists every known armor in the game, along with every perk.
]]>The first DLC pack for Minecraft Dungeons is now out and it adds several new base weapons. There are a huge number of weapons in the game, each one with different power levels, base speed, and area of attack.
This Minecraft Dungeons weapons guide will list all of the melee weapons and ranged weapons in the game. Several new weapons were introduced in the Jungle Awakens DLC: the whip, battlestaff, katana, and the dual crossbows.
]]>When slashing your way through action RPGs like Minecraft Dungeons, you'll always be on the lookout for a new gear. The best toys that are available for your hero are the unique items that shine a glorious orange, sought after because of the additional abilities they give you.
]]>A Minecraft Dungeons build is not complete without picking the right artifacts. These are powerful items that can be equipped to one of three slots and are used to bolster your character's abilities.
So if you want to launch firework arrows at enemies or summon an animal companion to aid you in battle, and want to know exactly what every artifact does, then you've come to the right place. Our Minecraft Dungeons artifacts guide also includes all of the DLC artifacts.
]]>Minecraft Dungeons is a lot more fun, albeit a lot more challenging, when you're playing with friends. Teaming up with another player is rather simple to set up, whether you're playing with friends online or family members in the same household.
In this Minecraft Dungeons multiplayer guide, we will be teaching you how to set up local multiplayer and how to set up online multiplayer, as well as explaining how the multiplayer mode works.
]]>Minecraft Dungeons is more fun with friends, and one of the bigger questions that Minecraft Dungeons players have asked is: when is crossplay coming to the game? Sadly, not yet. But if you're using the same PC we have all of the tips you need to get started.
]]>One of the vital concepts to get to grips with in Minecraft Dungeons is how enchantments work. Each piece of gear, whether it is a melee weapon, ranged weapon, or the armor your hero wears has at least one enchantment slot.
The important thing about enchantments is that your hero is not locked to a choice that you have made. As there is no penalty for changing your hero's gear, you have the freedom to mix and match enchantment compositions to create lethal combos.
]]>The first DLC pack for Minecraft Dungeons is now out. The Jungle Awakens DLC has a secret level of its own and a bunch of extra items. Sneakily, there's also a free update that was added alongside that gives you a second secret level.
If you want to find all the new secret levels and the items you can find in each one, then look no further.
]]>Minecraft Dungeons isn't all that old, but there were plenty of secret levels waiting to be unlocked. The Jungle Awakens DLC also has its own secret level and it is quite well hidden.
This level has quite a few pandas that you need to rescue from their undead captors. It's worth playing through at least once not only for the loot, but for the big surprise at the end!
]]>If you've already hacked and slashed and tumbled your way through Minecraft Dungeons' campaign, you can grab your enchanted boots for another spelunking. The first DLC for Minecraft-but-Diablo is out now. The Jungle Awakens DLC sends you into the overgrowth to battle the Jungle Abomination. Even if you don't grab the DLC, a free update including a new secret mission has been added for all players.
]]>Pack your mozzie spray and put on your hardiest boots, traveller. Minecraft Dungeons is preparing to take us into the undergrowth with its first DLC pack, Jungle Awakens. Arriving next Wednesday, the expansion is bringing some lush new levels, weapons, abilities and story missions to the block-busting dungeon crawler - along with a new dungeon, gear and balance changes in a free update that same day.
]]>Profits from sales of Minecraft and Minecraft Dungeons on digital stores today will be donated to several racial justice causes, in celebration of Juneteenth. The annual event on June 19th marks the day in 1865 that a Union army general formally announced to Texas that all Texan slaves were now free, and has grown to be celebrated countrywide. Mojang have also switched one of the groups they're donating to, from the initially-announced Black Lives Matter Foundation to the Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation. That's... a whole story in itself, an expensive case of mistaken identity.
]]>So you've bought Minecraft Dungeons but you don't have the foggiest idea of how to play it. If you're coming to this game from regular Minecraft, it's got a familiar setting and characters, but that's where the similarities end.
Don't worry, if you're stuck learning how to play Minecraft Dungeons we can teach you the basics.
]]>You may have heard the rumours about a secret cow level in Minecraft Dungeons. They're true. In an homage to the long-standing bovine rumour and Easter Egg in the Diablo series, it seems that Minecraft Dungeons has its own take on the secret cow level that's filled with Mooshrooms.
You will need to find nine hidden runes to unlock this hidden level, and once you do you'll get access to the craziest secret area in the game.
]]>In Minecraft Dungeons, you are a hero tasked with stopping the Arch-Illager and his army of monsters from taking over the Overworld. The journey will be a long one, spanning multiple difficulties, but there is plenty of loot out there to help you along the way.
If you are used to Minecraft's focus on building and exploring, then the RPG style of this new game might be as alien to you as an Enderman in daylight. Help is at hand though as we will guide you through the monsters and the hidden treasures of Minecraft Dungeons.
]]>When you kill an enemy in Minecraft Dungeons, there is a high chance that green gems will scatter everywhere. These are emeralds and they act as the game's currency. So why do you need emeralds?
Well the main reason is to exchange them with the Blacksmith or the Wandering Trader at the camp for a random weapon, random armour piece, or random artefact. Since they are randomised and you'll have the chance to get unique weapons quickly this way, you'll want as many emeralds as possible.
]]>I'm really enjoying Minecraft Dungeons, and my only real criticism of it right now is that there just aren't enough levels to explore. That won't be the case as of next month, however, because the game's first DLC, Jungle Awakens is dropping in July. On top of that, Mojang have announced they're working on bringing cross-platform multiplayer to Minecraft Dungeons, as well as a bunch of other content in a free future update.
]]>Combining your gear, enchantments, and artefacts in Minecraft Dungeons is what makes it fun to play. Sometimes you'll find a particular combination that just works really well.
The best builds are those that quickly defeat enemies, make short work of bosses, and make your hero incredibly powerful.
]]>Minecraft Dungeons has the hero face off against the Arch-Illager and his minions. Leading them are some unique bosses, from a Corrupted Cauldron in the Soggy Swamp to the Redstone Monstrocity in Fiery Forge. The Arch-Illager is also quite a tough boss, mostly because of his spooky second form. While having the right gear can help keep you alive, having a strategy for each fight can make all the difference.
]]>In homage to one of the all-time action-RPG greats, Minecraft Dungeons has a secret level where you can fight herds of murderous cattle. Mojang's own action-RPG launched this morning, and folks have already discovered a nod to Diablo's infamous cow level, where wizards will be sent to mow down hordes of mooing mobs sprouting mushrooms. Killing cows: a cornerstone of the genre.
]]>Minecraft Dungeons may have borrowed very little from its parent game in terms of features, sticking largely to the blockbuster construction game's aesthetics instead, but that's not to say it hasn't given plenty back. While Dungeons was being developed, according to executive director David Nisshagen in my interview with him, its team came up with illagers, a.ka. angry squidwards, in order to provide a staple humanoid mob for the player to batter by the dozen throughout the blocky ARPG's levels. But the idea was swiftly nabbed by the regular Minecraft team, and before Dungeons was even in the game, illagers were HARR-ing their way across Minecraft worlds from the spring of 2019. So, if the folks at Mojang are open to sneaking elements into Minecraft from its younger sibling, what else should make its way in? Here's my pick - but let me know what you'd like to see make the jump across in ye olde comments section.
]]>Maybe there's not much Minecraft in Minecraft Dungeons, but there is a pretty decent action-RPG or so I hear. Mojang's click-click-click-click-clicking dungeon crawler launched today, with nary a block to mine or tree to punch but some weird and fun builds to experiment with. I'm up for an ARPG where one armour perk gives you a pet bat.
]]>After a brief moment of uncertainty during its first reveal, I had a pretty good feeling that Minecraft Dungeons would be some nice and breezy block-clad fun. Until I'd seen it though, turning Minecraft into Diablo's little brother was not an obvious experiment—at least not to me. What other game series should get a spinoff into some totally unlikely other genre?
Minecraft Dungeons isn't out until tomorrow, but RPS reviews man Nate has already called it some good, simple fun in his Minecraft Dungeons review.
]]>I knew Minecraft Dungeons was going to be fun when I played a couple of hours of the beta build last month. I knew this because, well, it was fun. It was the kind of fun you can fathom within about twelve seconds of starting a game, and the kind you know will be dependable in its simplicity, even if it might not last forever. And hey, guess what? Minecraft Dungeons is really fun! It's a charming, lively little looter-bruter, with all Minecraft's aesthetic elements, but absolutely nothing in common with it beyond that.
It's not going to change the world of action RPGs (that is to say, Diabloids), as it is a fairly simple beast. And it's a fairly small one too: with a seven hour single player campaign that a proper clicklord could probably breeze through in half the time, it leans heavily on replay value to deliver its 17 quids' worth of goods. But it is pretty much what I hoped it would be when I wrote my preview, and I have very little to complain about now that I've seen the whole thing.
]]>Mojang? Never heard of them. Mojang Studios? Oh, the Minecraft and Minecraft Dungeons folks? Them I do know. Yes, they've tweaked their name a tiny bit again, now becoming Mojang Studios because there are several studios doing several things. And because corporate types get a bit bored and antsy if they're not allowed a rebranding every few years. Yes, they do have a corporate rebranding video explaining how important this extra word is.
]]>When Minecraft Dungeons was first announced, I thought it was a bit of an odd call. Dungeon crawlers are popular, and Minecraft is popular, but… a Minecraft dungeon crawler? Surely, I figured, a switch to isometric dungeoneering would lose all of Minecraft’s creative, construction-toy charm in translation, and I just couldn’t see Minecraft’s gently strange, cuboid world as an intuitive setting for a Diablolike lootstabber. It all seemed a bit of a mismatch, like making an arcade fighting game based on Frasier, or an RTS about the Teletubbies.
But, as you’ve probably now had time to process, both of those ideas are completely amazing. And so, to my surprise and delight, is Minecraft Dungeons. I’ve had a good play with the beta build ahead of its postponed launch on May 26th, and what I’ve found is an extremely slick, extremely pretty dopamine delivery system, that somehow strings together the best of two seemingly disparate worlds.
]]>Mojang's Minecraft Dungeons has seen some setbacks due to the Covid-19 pandemic, pushing back its release. It's not a huge delay: the launch is now on May 26th, when previously they'd said Minecraft action-RPG spin-off would be out by the end of April. And now you have a firm date.
]]>There have been a great many games like Minecraft over the past decade. Which is to be expected, because who wouldn't want to capitalise on the runaway mainstream success of the geometric giant, one of the best-selling video games of all time? Minecraft has many interesting facets about it beyond the block bashing mechanics, so we've compiled our list of the best games like it out there right now so you can scratch that familiar mining and crafting itch.
]]>Beloved no-longer-indie game Minecraft is dabbling in all sorts of new genres. It was already re-imagined as a narrative adventure in the spinoff Minecraft: Story Mode series and, if you hadn't heard, will be delving into dungeon crawler territory in April. Mojang developers released a new video today to talk more about co-op play and procedural levels in Minecraft Dungeons.
]]>What ever could cause the gentle builders and farmers of Minecraft to beat their ploughshares into swords and go on a murderous quest? Apparently Minecraft Dungeons does have a story to explain this, according to the game's opening cinematic, as shown during MineCon over the weekend. Perhaps more relevantly to people who wanna murder mobs with their pals and yoink loot, Mojang have also opened signups for closed beta testing. First, that plot-pushing intro.
]]>A new Minecraft spin-off game will delve into the blockworld as a dungeon-crawler in 2019, developers Mojang announced this weekend during their MineCon fan event. Minecraft: Dungeons is its name, and whacking monsters is its game. Inspired by "classic dungeon crawler games", they say, it'll send up to four players to whack and stab and thwipp and zap through Minecrafty levels and monsters, grabbing whatever loot's not nailed down. Have a peek in the announcement trailer below.
