I can't read the title of OneShot without hearing Eminem singing "do not miss your chance to blow" immediately afterwards. But this mental deficiency is probably not shared by the thousands of folks who fell in love with the purple-tinted puzzle RPG in 2016. If you are among that number, and fancy a handheld way to replay the game, then good news. OneShot: World Machine Edition is a remastered version that is Steam Deck compatible, and it's coming out on PC this month.

Video games, you may have noticed, are often a little bit horrid. All sorts of naughtiness, and a distinct lack of people just being kind to one another. What are we like?! But fortunately there are games that make an exception to the potty-mouthed meanies that dominate, and today I celebrate them and their cuteness with a collection of lovely screenshots.

OneShot is out on Mac and that’s nice for you, Danhttps://www.rockpapershotgun.com/oneshot-is-out-on-macBrendan CaldwellFri, 01 Jun 2018 09:18:07 +0000https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/oneshot-is-out-on-macRPGOneShotDegica

Hear ye Mac users, heed my blowing horn of low-key game news. Meta-heroic RPG OneShot is now playable on your fruit-powered computers. It’s the story of a cat-eyed girl who carries around a lightbulb, which she thinks is the sun, through a dark world of broken robots and abandoned shacks. But it’s also about you, since the characters are aware there’s a god in the sky who sees everything, and they have no qualms about talking to that god and sometimes even manage to know your name without ever being told. Isn't that weird, Dan?

John's Favourite Games Of 2016https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/games-of-2016John WalkerThu, 29 Dec 2016 14:30:58 +0000https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/games-of-2016FeatureOneShotEnter the GungeonOxenfreeBestest BestsFirewatchAction AdventurePony IslandEpistory - Typing ChroniclesSorcery!

One of my favourite things about end of year lists on RPS is they never match the personal list of any individual writer. They're a compromise between us all, an erratic, uncoordinated vote where consensus sees games of real worth rising to the top and filling our annual advent calendar. It makes for a list that's far more broad and useful to the largest number of readers. And because it's driven by nothing other than what we've all enjoyed that year is equally likely to be filled with the tripliest of As and the most obscure of indies. Still though, it leaves me wanting to say, "But! But there are THESE games too!" So below is my list of my favourite games of 2016, far less useful to far fewer readers, but goodness me, a collection of games that deserve adulation.

Wot I Think: OneShothttps://www.rockpapershotgun.com/oneshot-reviewJohn WalkerMon, 12 Dec 2016 18:00:40 +0000https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/oneshot-reviewFeatureOneShotRPS RecommendedReviewsRPGIndieMetaAction AdventureWot I Think

I've never played a game like OneShot [official site]. I've played rather a lot of games, too. It's also been a really long time since I've cared about a game's main character quite so much, to the point where decisions really mattered to me. Which is rather a lot to say of a game made in RPGMaker. But then this is a game that does stuff with that cutesy engine that I would never have thought possible. It does stuff with my PC that I didn't know games could do. This is quite the thing. Here's wot I think:

OneShot is bursting with nice ideas, and out nowhttps://www.rockpapershotgun.com/oneshot-releasedJohn WalkerFri, 09 Dec 2016 12:18:04 +0000https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/oneshot-releasedAction AdventureOneShotIndie

Steam, you may have noticed, is a little bit broken. One of its multifarious idiosyncrasies is to include games that absolutely have not been released in its full list of released games. Every now and then I'll spot a game that looks worth a peek, go to install it, and find it doesn't even have a release date yet. So I tend to stick them on my wishlist and forget they exist. One such game that just popped up in my email as now released is OneShot [official site]. I don't even have half a recollection of ever marking it, but gosh I'm glad I did. I've been playing it this morning and this top-down meta pixel adventure is completely charming.
