This month, Amazon were already giving away 15 games to all Amazon Prime subscribers, but they’ve now sweetened the pot with 8 more, including some real good indies up for keeps. The new additions are available to claim starting today, up until June 26th - giving you a little over a month to grab the lineup below.
]]>Cat cafe simulation Calico has come out of the oven right on time. I was starting to fear that it would roll over into the new year without hitting its expected 2020 release window. Never fear though, Calico has scooted out here in the last weeks of the year, so you can jump in to decorate cakes, collect animal friends, and assemble your cafe right now.
]]>Magical girl cat cafe simulator Calico has lots of cats—orange cats and black cats and calico cats and cats big enough to ride like horses. Thanks to this new trailer in the Guerilla Collective showcase, I have now learned that it also has bears. I like cats, sure, but I really, really like bears. I cannot ride them or pick them up like stuffed animals in real life but I will definitely do both in Calico.
]]>June's not quite here but we're already being treated to a few digital showcases in the style of E3 presentations. Wholesome Direct rounded up a whole 55 indie games with varying styles of kindness and cuteness to show off in a 35-minute show. A few big names like town sim Ooblets and boat manager Spiritfarer showed up to join arms with some smaller but equally swell looking games you may not have heard of. You can rewatch the entire show below.
]]>Screenshot Saturday Sunday: a day to beat the drum for indie developers bravely sharing their projects with an often cold and uncaring internet on Twitter. You gotta respect such bravery. This week I’ve brought you round cats, MS Paint horror cards, and quietly crying mecha. Let’s get to it!
]]>In Calico, a magical girl can use magic (duh) to grow an ordinary cat to the size of a horse so she can ride it while another, smaller wobbly physics cat rides on her head. There's also something about managing a magical village's cat cafe, but that seems secondary to what I just said about cat-stacks. Developed by CatBean Games and over halfway funded after one day on Kickstarter, I'm pretty sure this game is precision engineered to appeal to my softer side. I've been following its development for a while, and it looks like a daft, fluffy gem. See the Kickstarter trailer below.
]]>I love Screenshot Saturday, Twitter’s weekly tag for game developers to throw up images and gifs (mostly gifs, but that’s not alliterative) of their works in progress. I love it so much that I’ve gathered together some of my favourites so that we can coo over them together. Within: a magical girl cat café, hyperactive sheep, and a very calm tree in what looks to be a much less tranquil game.
