You might have heard of Berserk already. A few people have pointed out the similarities between Hidetaka Miyazaki’s Souls series and the manga Berserk. Perhaps you’ve even gotten curious, toyed with the idea of getting into it, but without a clear idea of where to start. Or perhaps you got the impression that Berserk is not for you.
You may have heard Berserk is filled with violence, sexual assault, gore, grim characters and questionable content. And for the most part, you would be right. But at its core, Berserk is about love.
]]>Blood for the blood god, it's only the weekly Steam charts! These are the ten games which sold best on Steam last week.
The debate has raged for an eternity. The infinite dilemma that has defeated even humanity's greatest minds.
Which is best: guns or swords? Today, I have a definitive answer for you.
]]>The year is 2037, and Parliament Warriors has just hit Steam. Having turned all known Japanese history and fiction into Warriors games, Koei Tecmo have cast a wider gaze. Following the success of a Warriors game recreating the historic 2023 by-election which started Zayn Malik's rise to power, Koei are hopeful that the supergroup of Parliament Warriors will sell strongly and spark follow-ups in each devolved Parliament.
Ah, how simple it all seemed in 2017, when the latest release was Berserk and the Band of the Hawk [official site], simply an adaptation of the long-running manga (and anime). How little they suspected!
]]>As Old Father Time grabs his sickle and prepares to take ailing 2016 around the back of the barn for a big sleep, we're looking to the future. The mewling pup that goes by the name 2017 will come into the world soon and we must prepare ourselves for its arrival. Here at RPS, our preparations come in the form of this enormous preview feature, which contains details on more than a hundred of the exciting games that are coming our way over the next twelve months. 2016 was a good one - in the world of games at least - but, ever the optimists, we're hoping next year will be even better.
]]>Koei Tecmo's upcoming Berserk and the Band of the Hawk [official site] has me giddy like a schoolgirl. I never got around to picking up Sword of the Berserk: Guts' Rage back on the Dreamcast and really regret not doing so when I found it at Half-Price Books, so this'll be my first proper Berserk game.
I just know that once it's released and it's on my system proper my sacrificial brand tattoo will pulsate and/or bleed, just like Guts. Is that weird? Oh well, there are some new costumes and a trailer to check out if you're into Berserk as much as I am. Yes, a musou-styled, Dynasty Warriors-esque release from the mind of Berserk creator Kentaro Miura. Yes, please.
]]>Dynasty Warriors has many faces these days, and now we're adding another to the bunch with Berserk and the Band of the Hawk [official site]. In case you're out of the loop, Band of the Hawk is blending Dynasty Warriors with Kentaro Miura's popular anime and manga series, Berserk. We originally expected the English language version to launch some time this fall, but it looks like we'll be waiting until February to single-handedly mow our way through thousands of non-descript enemies.
]]>We've mentioned before that the epic fantasy manga Berserk was getting the Dynasty Warriors treatment but Koei Tecmo hadn't yet confirmed a release outside Japan. They have now. Berserk (working title) [official site] will be hacking 'n' slashing round our way this autumn, leaving a trail of gibs.
]]>How do you like your claymore-wielding, lone-fighting, cape-sporting dark fantasy renegades served? If it's with a penchant for murder, a desire to slice scores of forest-dwelling monsters in half, and a want to spill as much blood as is single-handedly possible, then Berserk has you covered. In case you missed the E3 reveal (you didn't, though, because you bookmarked our E3 2016 news tab, didn't you?) Berserk is the next Dynasty Warriors hack-n-slash spin-off based on the mature fantasy manga series of the same name. It's now teased its first footage. And it's typically pretty brutal.
]]>When it comes to lone mercenaries that feature in dark fantasy manga series, Guts is a fantastic name, don't you think? He's the co-protagonist of Berserk, see, a mature fantasy affair first published in 1989 that's known for its adult themes and graphic violence. It includes a whole load of murderin' basically, which is why developers Omega Force's decision to base their next Dynasty Warriors spin-off on Guts' exploits seems to make sense. It's out later this year and now has the teasiest of teaser trailers:
