Two Worlds! The half terrible, half wonderful 2007 RPG in which you upgraded your sword by strapping lots of other swords to it (which always seemed oddly logical to me)!
Two Worlds II! The 2011 sequel I can't remember anything about, other than that it sadly dialled down the accidental comedy but also included angry monkeys who threw their own excrement at the player!
And now, Two Words II: Call of the Tenebrae [official site], 2017 DLC/standalone expansion whose very existence confuses and confounds me!
]]>Aaargh! I love tower defence games and I quite like Two Worlds 2 (even though they wouldn't send me review code), but I have both Portal 2 to finish and Witcher 2 preview code on my PC. No time! Nooooo tiiiiiime! Maybe you have time. Tell me you do. If you do, you should try the bizarre Two Worlds 2 spin-off game Castle Defense, for which you slip into the shoes of TW2 arch-nasty Gandohar as he smacks down rebellion. The game's not out until May 17, but there's a demo now.
]]>Apologies for not presenting this to you on Friday - I'd planned to post it after attending the excellent World of Love conference, but it turns out that if you drink a lot of beer then go home without eating anything you fall asleep on the train and wake up in a darkened station feeling like you're dying. So there's that. But on the subject of dying, let's talk about all the endangered species I mindlessly murdered during Chapter One of Two Worlds II.
A step through a teleporter - TW2's perhaps over-familiar take on fast-travel - rushes me out of cramped Tutorial Island and into, improbably, Africa.
]]>Reality Pump's RPG sequel arrived in mainland Europe back in November, but won't reach the US and UK until next week. Publisher Topware Interactive seems to have disappeared off the face of the Earth this week and haven't replied to requests for review code, but as the European edition also includes the English version I imported a copy of that, applied the three patches since launch and got cracking. As far as I can ascertain there are zero differences between the two versions, but apologies in advance if there proves to be some major change.
I'll be reviewing it - if you want to call it that - in stages. This'll be the first one of those, then.
]]>Last we saw of Two Worlds II, developers Southpeak were cheerily mocking the first game in a series of videos. Evidently with the game's Jan 2011 release date coming up, the time for such jokes is OVER.
The trailer below shows a FEROCIOUS BATTLE between HUMANS (I think?) and NOT-ORCS. The bloody fight takes place at the coast next to OSWAROTH, a city next to the DRA'KAR DESERT. There is an AXE. There is PAIN. There is a BIRD, who may or may not be the NARRATOR. Have you had breakfast yet? Did you sleep well? Because if not, you might just LOSE CONTROL and POP A BONER.
]]>Last week Southpeak began a rather unique campaign for their forthcoming Two Worlds II. A series of ads mocking Two Worlds. Starring disgruntled henchman Sordahon, the ads poke fun at the weaknesses of the first game. A third part is out, this time seeing Sordahon at the therapist office.
]]>Did you play Two Worlds? I tried for a bit. It was rubbish, wasn't it? Well, interestingly enough, according to Destructoid Polish developers Reality Pump think so too. And they're saying so in some videos that not only promote the sequel, Two Worlds II, but that mock the first one. Which is a bold choice. If they're really from Southpeak, and not Destructoid punking them.
]]>A while back we did a bit of embarrassed laughing at this, but it turns out the actual debut trailer for Two Worlds 2, which has just turned up, is far snazzier, and makes the game look quite a lot posher too. I don't expect it will genuinely dissolve the fleshy wrapping of scepticism produced by people who played the original game, but I know that at least some of those people didn't react badly to it, and will probably be going back to visit ludicrously helmeted fantasy chappies in the sequel.
]]>We have the first first footage of Two Worlds 2 in-game cinematics, which I've posted below. It's... well. It made me laugh, anyway. The trailer accompanies the teaser website, and check out horn-helmet's shield. Man!
]]>First there was fantasy RPG Two Worlds and now there is two of it. Them. The announcement about the twoness of Two Worlds was made today, as TopWare Interactive and Reality Pump released this extraordinary sentence into the wild: "“Two Worlds II” presents a totally new gamer experience, one in which 2 years of intensive development has enabled quantum leaps in all spheres: completely overhauled AI and balancing standards, experienced authors, the active combat system and the brand-new engine all combine to provide an unforgettable experience where excitement, sheer enjoyment and graphics rule."
