A collection of five Phoenix Wright games - including some of the greatest visual novels of all time, in my opinion - is about to be discontinued on Steam, making it slightly less convenient to pick up the original Ace Attorney trilogy and its recent prequel games. That’s the bad news. The good news is you’ve got a month’s notice - and it’s on sale for the next week or so.
]]>After countless Xbox Game Pass plugs, a lot of Dooming, and the arrival and subsequent disappearance of Greta Surname, The PC Gaming Weekspot is coming to an end. But, before we go, there's time to highlight some of our favourite games of 2021.
]]>Valve have released their monthly list of Steam best sellers for July, and it's good news if you're a fan of Japanese re-releases. The pixel remasters of Final Fantasy I-III all made the list, but so did The Great Ace Attorney Chronciles and Ys IX: Monstrum Nox. New games from Japanese developers did well, too, with both Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings Of Ruin and Samurai Warriors 5 making the list.
]]>Everyone knew it was coming, dulling the surprise somewhat, but it’s still pretty cool to get confirmation of a Dead Space remake. Well, we've decided that it’ll be good if EA takes a page out of Capcom’s book and goes the Resi route with its Isaac Clarke revival.
]]>For the past few weeks, I've been knee deep playing and preparing for my Great Ace Attorney Chronciles review. It's a long old game - around 60 hours between the two adventures - and holy moly, I have never wished so hard to be able to play them on Valve's portable Steam Deck instead of being sat up at my PC the whole time. The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles does bring some welcome improvements to Capcom's Phoenix Wright series, such as a new auto-text function so you're not endlessly clicking your mouse to advance the text, but what I wouldn't give to have the chance to play that game cosied up in bed or lying down on the sofa. Honestly, the Steam Deck can't come soon enough.
]]>At the top of London's Old Bailey sits the Statue of Justice, a woman with a sword and scales in either hand. It's a familiar sight to any London tourist, but in The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles, the Victorian-set prequel to Capcom's much beloved Phoenix Wright games, those scales take centre stage right inside the courtroom. Up and down they go as the jury deliberate on your client's innocence, pronouncing their verdict by chucking balls of flame into two enormous torches either side of the judge's head. Only it's not the judge sweating over these literal hot takes. It's Phoenix Wright's ancestor Ryunosuke Naruhodo (Phoenix Wright was known as Ryuichi Naruhodo in the original Japanese) feeling the heat here. If he fails to uncover the contradictions in the prosecution's case it's the noose for his clients, and a bleak end to his fledgling legal career.
]]>I don't think many were betting on Control getting a co-op spin-off. Some Remedy fans might be a bit put off by the studio focusing on a multiplayer game, but we're a little more positive.
]]>During Capcom's E3 stream last night, they showed new footage of The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles, which is coming to PC next month. Some of it will be fairly familiar to those of you who've dabbled in Ace Attorney, though they did reveal a couple of new gameplay mechanics: Dance Of Deduction and Summation Examination. I can't get over how that first one sounds like Herlock Sholmes has been spending a bit too much time on AO3.
]]>E3 2021 is approaching faster than I'm comfortable with, and yet I'm also eager for it to just hurry up and start already. Another step towards that happening: Capcom announced (a presumably partial) line-up for their showcase.
On Moday, June 14th at 2:30pm PDT/5:30pm EST/10:30pm BST, you'l be able to watch news on The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles, Monster Hunter Stories 2, Monster Hunter Rise, and Resident Evil Village.
]]>While the original didn’t garner much fanfare over 10 years ago, the success of Nier Automata had people excited about Nier Replicant. And, by all accounts, the general public has enjoyed it much more this time around than they did back in 2010.
]]>People of the games jury, please turn your attention to The Great Ace Attorney games. Previously, these two historical lawyer 'em ups hadn't launched on PC or in English, both of which they'll be doing in The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles. This combo release has been foretold by leaks already, but there are no remaining objections now. It's official. The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles launches on PC on July 27th.
]]>It looks like The Great Ace Attorney series is headed to PC. That's as distinct from the great Ace Attorney series, which was already released on PC in 2019. Let me explain.
Gematsu has spotted that The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles has been given a rating on PC by the Taiwan Digital Game Rating Committee. The Great Ace Attorney games are spin-offs from the Phoenix Wright detective games.
]]>For those of us who love gaming and reading, visual novels represent the best of both worlds, which is why we've put together this list of the 10 best visual novels you can play on PC right now. The term "visual novel" is a broad church. You can tell almost any story in this medium, which means most visual novels are a lot like regular novels in that sense. Romance and mystery are among the more popular genres, but search for "visual novel" on your favourite PC gaming storefront and you'll find a bit of everything, really (especially once you've filtered out all the adult games). So sit back and relax with one of our best visual novel recommendations. The only critical damage you're likely to take from these games are to your emotions — but that can be painful too, so don't say I didn't warn you!
